A rare Begonia found only in the Philippines, where it was discovered in Palawan. It is prized for its striking foliage and compact, rosette-like growth. The rhizome stays very short, with tightly packed growth that keeps the plant neat and low.
The leaves are broad, oval-shaped, and beautifully variegated, held on thick, fleshy stems with a distinctive ring of fine hairs at the base. While it resembles Begonia cleopatrae, B. gironellae is more compact and naturally grows in warmer, lowland environments.
Grown mainly for its foliage, new leaves emerge with bold variegation that provides ongoing visual interest. Native to warm, humid coastal forests, this Begonia is well suited to indoor growing, especially in spaces where humidity can be kept consistently high.
